Sanctum Film Review
Universal Movies put out a new drama/thriller film titled "Sanctum" into theaters last month. I watched it,and believed that it was extremely good. It was an exceptionally intense and emotional movie. It features: Richard Roxburgh, Rhys Wakefield, Ioan Gruffudd, Alice Parkinson, and Dan Wyllie.
"Sanctum" centered around a squad of underwater cave divers who seemed to be having a wonderful time when they turned up at one of the most amazing and least accessible cave systems on the planet. Unluckily, there fantastic times wouldn't last for very long.
The herd was made up of about 7 or 8 people, but that number rapidly dwindled down as the flick went along. The group of friends was led by character Frank who was an incredibly experienced master diver. One female meets her demise when her air line by accident gets sliced while diving deep with Frank. They were too deep to make it back to the top,so it just didn't work out for her.
Right after that, the negative misfortune flooded in on them, both literally and figuratively as a break in the cave caused massive amounts of water to come flooding in. After all this, they had only a couple of hours to a day to leave the cave before it was totally flooded.
Their first exit gets clogged in,so they had to find an alternative way from the cave. As they tried to find a different way out of the cave, they started meeting their deaths. One man lost his balance off some rocks that were extremely high up. Another man died from challenges from a dive. Then one gal drowned after dropping of some rocks. The vast majority of fatalities appeared honestly preventable. People just made bad choices. Each loss of life finished with someone drowning,or being forced to drown because their ailment was so poor that living didn't feel like the ideal alternative.
After a long journey to make it out of the cave, strangely enough, merely one guy managed to get out;and that individual just slightly made it out. What I got out of the flick,is that maybe these group of people shouldn't have went on this trip. That's pretty much it. Other than that,it just seemed almost pointless. There was a large amount of angry situations between some of the crew members because their emotions got the better of them, which presented some really good drama scenes
I liked the film because it was entertaining. There was never a flat moment. As far as the premise goes, there wasn't really much else to it. The people just got swept up in horrible circumstances while trying to explore this phenomenal cave, and perished. It almost somewhat reminded me of those "Final Destination" films accept each of the deaths happened in a flooded underwater cave. I gave the movie a B- rating.
