Phil Keoghan will need a much bigger hair and makeup trailer now that "The Amazing Race" is finally, for its 18th edition, in high definition.
Suggest that possibility to Keoghan, and you'll get the famous raised eyebrow. (It's the left. The right goes nowhere.) In 18 runs around the world for "The Amazing Race," Keoghan has curled up at the Pyramids in Egypt and shampooed his hair beside a road in China. Between "Race" seasons, he bicycled from Los Angeles to New York, picking up a load of gravel in his hip and face in a scary fall.

"And I really think it's come at the right time, giving us something new to talk about, something to sell the show around after 17 seasons." Possibly TV's most HD-worthy show, "The Amazing Race" has been criticized for remaining in standard definition. "But that was because of the difficulty of producing a show like this," Keoghan says. "It's not the same as being in a studio. We're shooting in humidity, in rain, in dust storms. What if you're in Bangladesh and the camera goes down?" The good news is that "we found a way to execute in HD, and the show looks sensational." A change to widescreen format also allows space for more information on screen, without blocking too much scenery, while Keoghan talks about where the teams are or what they're doing.

But remember, before you ask how he keeps busy when the teams are running around, that "95 percent of what I do is behind the scenes - rewriting the script, dealing with logistics, setting up my shots. It's just me, a sound guy and a cameraman, so it's hard." This season, Keoghan shot a lot of behind-the-scenes footage for segments to air online. "Viewers are really savvy, and they want to know the process," he says.

They became popular two years ago when they finished third on "The Amazing Race." Now a mother son duo from right here in Southern Colorado is going back on the show for a second time. Margie and Luke Adams will be on the upcoming season that premieres on Sunday. Season 18 is an all star season of teams that didn't win. Margie and Luke like all the contestants had some unfinished business. They told 11 News Thursday that they didn't have to think twice about going back on the show. Luke made history the first time around, he's the first deaf contestant to ever be on the show. "It was very frustrating and we were both disappointed in ourselves. Finishing third, it was really hard," Margie said.

"Made us a lot closer, it helped my mom understand how I feel being a deaf person. In China when my mom didn't speak the language, she didn't understand what people were saying, she kind of knows now how I feel all the time," Luke said. Being on the show not just once, but now twice has made the duo pretty famous and it's given Luke the chance to be a role model for the deaf community. "I'm very lucky. I am the only deaf person who has done this," Luke said.

An American multiple Emmy Award-winning reality game show, The Amazing Race is back with its latest season 18 dubbed as the "Unfinished Business," which will premiere on Sunday, February 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) only on the CBS Television Network. Watch the familiar faces in this new season as it will be a second chance for the $1 million prize for all those 11 teams who did not won in seasons 12-17; however no teams returned from season 13.
