If you and a friend were handed a million dollars in cash and only had to answer a few simple questions to keep it, could you do it? "MILLION DOLLAR MONEY DROP", the ultimate high-stakes game show, created and produced by Endemol, the masterminds behind "Deal or No Deal," gives a team $1 million in cold, hard cash and all they have to do to keep it is correctly answer seven multiple-choice questions. Actor and comedian Kevin Pollak will host the suspense-filled game show premiering Monday, Dec. 20 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and airing on four consecutive nights, Tuesday, Dec. 21 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), Wednesday, Dec. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Thursday, Dec. 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Additional airdates to be announced.
How would you risk your $1 million on the following question? According to the Lenox Report, which of these is the most popular Thanksgiving side dish? A. Mashed Potatoes B. Green Bean Casserole C. Cranberry Sauce D. Candied Yams When time is up and they have allocated all of their money, the team must step up to the drop to find out if their choices were right or wrong. In a dramatic reveal, the duo sees any cash placed on wrong answers disappear through the money drop below. Will they move on to the next question with their money still on the table, or will they lose it forever? As the game progresses, the questions get harder and the answers become fewer but after seven questions whatever cash - if any - is left on the table is theirs to keep.
Although he started his career as a stand-up comedian (Comedy Central's "Top 100 Comedians of All Time"), Kevin Pollak may be best known from co-starring in over 60 films, including "A Few Good Men," "The Usual Suspects" and "Casino."
However, they must always keep at least one answer "open," with no money on it. In addition, six of the seven questions have a time limit; any money that is not placed on an answer when time runs out will be lost. Once the money is in place, the trap doors for the incorrect answers are opened, and the cash on them falls out of sight and is lost. The contestants then continue the game using the cash they had placed on the correct answer. They get to keep whatever money is left after the seventh question; if they lose everything before reaching this point, the game ends immediately and they leave with nothing.
Later, viewers began to dispute the accuracy of the question because of information on the Internet that indicated Post-It Notes were "launched" or "introduced" under the name "Press 'N Peel" in four cities in 1977, based on an interview with the inventors of the Post-It Note published in the Financial Times. On April 6, 1980, the product debuted in US stores as "Post-It Notes." The Sony Walkman went on sale in Japan on July 1, 1979, and was later introduced to the US in June 1980.
As a result of new information we have received from 3M, we feel it is only fair to give our contestants, Gabe and Brittany, another shot to play Million Dollar Money Drop even though this question was not the deciding question in their game. The revised information regarding the Post-it is as follows: the product was originally tested for sale in four cities under the name 'Press 'N Peel' in 1977, sold as 'Post-its' in 1979 when the rollout introduction began and sold nationwide in 1980." Losing the $800,000, however, would not have directly impacted the outcome of the game, as the last question (in which the contestants either win or lose the entire remainder of their money) was answered incorrectly. mOn December 28, 2010, Host Kevin Pollak in an interview called "This story is a moot point," he added. "They never had a chance to win that money. Ever. No matter what." Also stating "They lost everything on the (last) question. It's a non-story." The couple has been invited to compete again.
