Nancy will ring in the New Year from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas -- and Times Square in New York City as the world-famous New Year's Eve Ball makes its descent. Musical guests include former "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta, Travie McCoy, pop/rock group Plain White T's, dance crew Jabbawockeez, and will also feature the broadcast premiere of Mariah Carey's music video of the New Year's classic, "Auld Lang Syne," from her new album, Merry Christmas II You.
"It feels really special to be ringing in 2011 because it seems like such a new road that I'm going down career-wise," Nancy says. "It just feels like a new life, so to speak, because I'm doing all these new things." In addition to hosting "New Year's Eve Live," Nancy's new things include starting her new gig as a correspondent for "Entertainment Tonight" on January 3 and fronting "Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star" on Oprah Winfrey's new network, along with Carson Kressley.
In an annual tradition, the New Year's Eve Live Ball drop will take place Friday, December 31, 2010 as everyone welcomes in 2011. The Times Square New Year's Eve celebration will include the legendary Dick Clark counting down until the New Year hits, and the ball drops in Times Square. Ryan Seacrest will host the celebration along with his beautiful co-host Jenny McCarthy. Tentatively called "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011," ABC.com is reporting that there will be a wide variety of musical performances.
This will mark the 39th consecutive year of the big New Year's celebration, as well. The show will begin at 10 until 11PM, and then break a half hour for local evening news. Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve will follow at 11:30PM until 1:08AM EST with more musical performances from LA and NYC. It's great to see Dick Clark still rocking after all these years.
But the question remains, will Beyonc? and Gwyneth Paltrow join their husbands for a New Year's kiss at the Marquee grand opening, which is where the post-show party is. And what would New Year's Eve be without "New Year's Rockin' Eve" in The Big Apple? Ryan Seacrest hosts the annual party in Times Square that features performances by Ke$ha and Taio Cruz. Jenny McCarthy will also be on hand looking for someone to smooch. Over at MTV's New Year's Bash, Flo Rida is set to perform twice and Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi will be placed inside a ball that will drop in Seaside Heights, N.J., as the clock ticks down to midnight.
Plain White T's, Travie McCoy and David Archuleta (ar-choo-LET'-uh) will perform. Next year will be a busy one for O'Dell. She's joining "Entertainment Tonight" and hosting "Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star" on Oprah Winfrey's new network, launching Saturday. "New Year's Eve Live" airs live from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Eastern time on Fox. It will be tape-delayed in other time zones.
FORMER "Access Hollywood" host Nancy O'Dell says she always wanted to front a New Year's Eve show but had always been shut out from working the late, noisemaker/ball-drop shift because she had to be up early to co-host the Tournament of Roses Parade. Now that she's done with "AH" and no longer part of the NBC family, Nancy is spending a night at Fox to host "New Year's Eve Live" (11 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Friday) from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. "I'm going to be one uber-excited host," Nancy said by phone earlier this month. "It will be unique and different, and it's Vegas so you never know what's going to happen."
Jerry Lewis on the MDA Telethon. She's a strong believer in the work the telethon does, so don't go questioning Lewis' motives around her.
