The show's success has led Producer Mike Fleiss to create multiple spin-offs, including The Bachelorette, in which the format is gender-reversed, and Bachelor Pad, where previous contestants compete in dating-themed eliminations for $250,000.
According to the summary on ABC.com, each new Bachelor episode contains a rose ceremony during which one or more contestants is eliminated. Eliminations are based upon date performance (i.e., how the women relate to the bachelor on the dates). The bachelor must follow a process of elimination wherein his pool of bachelorettes is narrowed down week by week by presenting a rose to each of the women he wishes to keep.

But it seems that this year, rather than the men doing the picking and choosing, the women get more of a say, so that'll make a nice change! In the clips you'll also see host Chris Harrison surprising Brad with the news that DeAnna and Jenni - the women he dumped - are in the studios and want to speak to him.
Brad Womack, who ended up rejecting both his choices on a finale in 2007, comes back with what we hope is a little more focus. Why give a guy who has already broken 25 hearts another chance to break 30? Name recognition! But he'll have some penance along the way. The two women he rejected in that finale, Jenni Croft and DeAnna Pappas will first confront him for his inaction and then the first of the new batch of women out of the limousines will slap him "on behalf of all the women in America" (you've seen it in the promos, enhanced sound effect and all).
Good to have the chooser be on the defensive for once in these off-putting shows, but who can look forward to another full season of this stuff? Now that the holidays are over, Lifetime can get back to its main business: making creepy movies about women in peril. The creepiest of them lately have been drawn from recent cases of national prominence.
After Ken Burns' "The Civil War," which will get another showing on public television this year because of the 150th anniversary of the start of the conflict, is there anything more we really need to know about Robert E. Lee? Well, a new portrait on "American Experience" (CPTV, 9 p.m.) sheds more light on his upbringing, the lineage of his wife (a descendant of Washington), as well as his battles in the war, which turned him old before his time.
A second season comes for "Pretty Little Liars" (ABC Family, 8 p.m.), but the storytelling is so slow, we may never stick around to find out who the secret texter is. It's accompanied by a new season of "Greek" (ABC Family, 9 p.m.).
When "The Bachelor" gets underway in 2011, Brad will be under a microscope in the first episode. Skeptics will be watching intently as he gets a second chance to make a first impression. What did Dave think of Brad's exit in 2007 when he chose neither DeAnna Pappas nor Jenni Croft?
