Following the format of its predecessors (The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Real Housewives of New York City), in 2009 TRHoA was not only the highest rated show of the The Real Housewives of... franchise, it was the highest rated reality series on the Bravo network.

"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" returns Monday, October 4 with a highly anticipated season 3 on Bravo. All the "housewives" are set to return sans Lisa Wu Hartwell.
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" boasts 3.6 million viewers with ages ranging from 18-49. The series is Bravo's highest rated series of all of the "Real Housewives" franchise.
And NeNe and Kim will team up against Phaedra for, we don't know, something deliciously ridiculous. We confess, we're eating up every bit of it. Well, at least until a real scripted series with authentic actresses returns to the small screen.
Bravo TV's Real Housewives of Atlanta season 3 is set to start filming in 2010. The buzz over who will and who won't be returning centers around two constantly feuding castmates. According to the Daily News, NeNe Leakes, the mouth of the South, and Kim (I spread 'em for married men) Zolciak may not be invited to return.
They may be fan favorites, but the antics produced by NeNe and Kim, including verbal and physical sparring keep people tuned in and talking.
The show is produced by True Entertainment, subsidiary of Endemol.
Lisa Wu out-Cynthia and Phaedra in! EW has exclusively learned that Bravo will officially add two new housewives to the cast for its third season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, which is set to premiere on Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. ET. The network will make the announcement this afternoon. As you can see from the first-look cast photo above, NFL wife Lisa Wu Hartwell went the way that DeShawn Snow did after season one-she's no longer a full-fleged cast member.
Cynthia Bailey: She's a model who was born in Alabama, has appeared on the cover of Essence magazine, and has a 10-year-old daughter, Noelle.You might remember her from a brief guest role on The Cosby Show (she played a character named Sheniquah Watkins) or her spot as Roxanne opposite Sandra Bernhard in the musical comedy Without You I'm Nothing.
Her big storyline this season? She's married to a younger man, Apollo, who went to prison for a "white collar crime," and the ladies love to gossip about that. And surprise: Phaedra's pregnant! Much of her time will be consumed with planning a baby shower. Also worth noting: Phaedra is from the same hometown as spitfire NeNe. Here's hoping for a little from-the-archives drama between the pair!
The rest of the ladies have been busy, too: NeNe will deal with a rocky marriage and focuses on finding a career by landing a job as an entertainment reporter for the local news; Kim will do the music thing again, and even embark on a tour alongside Kandi; Kandi will reel from the death of her former fianc?.
This week's Real Housewives of Atlanta is drama, drama, drama. Things are getting tense on the bus tour with Kandi, Kim and their two assistants. Kim wants to stop for smoke breaks but the rest of the bus is getting annoyed that it is taking too long to get anywhere.
It's pretty obvious that NeNe is annoyed that Kim thinks she is a rock star.
Peter says he regrets telling Cynthia, but come on! It was her money too! And now the wedding has to potentially be changed because of budget problems.
NeNe is trying to give her pointers for her show, but Kim doesn't want the advice. Kandi is annoyed that Kim and NeNe are on the bus taking over. NeNe makes fun of the strip mall club they perform in, and the fact that Kim lip synchs and it's like karaoke.
All of this escalates with NeNe getting in a huge fight with Kim about how she talks to her assistant, after she pits Kandi and all of the people on the bus against Kim. It starts with Kim wanting the assistants to have a room and NeNe saying they are not allowed to go with the girls. It then goes into the fact that Kandi is the real artist and Kim is just singing a song.
