Davis spent a while in Stephens' half guard, working to maintain position. Stephens got an underhook on the same side as his guard leg and used it to stand back up. Back on the feet Stephens landed a leg kick that Davis answered with a nice combination. Then Davis tagged Stephens with a left hookd that rocked him. Davis then inexplicably clinched up and Stephens recovered and survived the round.
Then Stephens got half guard and it was a whole new game. Stephens then moved to full guard while holding on to the double wrist lock. Davis then escaped the arm lock only for Stephens to immediately attack his neck. Davis escaped and Stephens landed elbows from the bottom. The third round was slow with more good foot work from Davis. But then he ducked into a winging right hand from Stephens that dropped him. Stephens followed up with a hard forearm shiv to the prone Davis before the ref could stop the fight.
Both come out cautiously in a southpaw stance. They paw right jabs. McKee misses a right hook but follows that with a kick to the ribs. McKee lands a left/right and then shoots in. He's stuffed. They stand and clinch. McKee presses Volkmann into the cage. After about 20 seconds they separate. Volkmann shoots in and scores a takedown; he lands in half guard. McKee scrambles and gets back to his feet and presses "Christmas" into the cage again. Volkmann reverses and then separates. McKee misses a wild left uppercut/right hook. Very little action at end of frame. Very close round. 10-9 Volkmann.
The 38 year old Davis was once considered a contender in the UFC's welterweight division. But after going 2-3 at 170lbs since 2009 he's elected to cut down to 155lbs and try his luck. He was most recently battered and choked out by Nate Diaz at UFC 118. He did KO Jonathan Goulet at UFC 113. Stephens is a young brawler known for his ferocity and raw power.

He went 3-4 after the Silva loss before picking up his three straight wins in 2010.

None of the judges agreed on an outcome with Marcos Rosales awarding the fight 48-46 for Edgar, Glen Trowbridge saw it 48-46 for Maynard, and Patricia Morse Jarman agreeing with my 47-47 draw. I cannot understate the quality of this fight. This had everything a fight fan wants to see: the stakes of Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen, the dramatic comeback of Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin, the heart of Jorge Santiago vs. Kazuo Misaki, the high-tempo of Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung, and the technical acumen of Martin Kampmann vs. Carlos Condit. I'll have a better idea in a few months when I can drop the recency bias, but this might go down as my favorite fight of all time.
