Are you sure you're getting your computer fixed by the right person?
I operate a computer repair business in Atlanta, GA. And while I do a reasonable amount of the job myself, we're currently testing out new sub contractors. You would be surprised about all of the answers we get from people.
Earlier today I'd a customer who required to take the Bar exam on Tuesday, she had some special software that was essential for her to accomplish test but her computer was causing problems with viruses. So, we originally scheduled a sub to go out and work on her computer. I had to speak to him since the lead tech/business owner. And that he was saying he'd need to reinstall windows, she'd lose her files and everything else. This was a sub who looked good in writing, Fifteen years of experience mostly working for himsefl.
I had been in a position to navigate to the clients, and within 25 minutes I had every vestige from the virus completely wiped off and needless to say my client was thrilled.
Another incident this past week, we'd a different sub to visit a repeat client here in Atlanta, and that he calls us back having a preliminary estimate of 5 hours to correct the pc. Which at $90 an hour isn't a small matter. We'd to directly intervene in this call as well, and could complete the job within an hour and 15 minutes. Our policy could it be should just take 2 hours or less for just one physical computer there's no reason behind it to consider so long.
My point is, you cant ever be quite sure what you're getting when you hire a computer repair company. As the technician can sound very knowledgeable and also the advice you're getting seems reasonable, unless you're very knowledgeable you are likely to get fooled like this.
The best technicians are the type who realize that the cash isn't made in something ask the first visit but instead from repeat business year after year. Should you charge a reasonable price and provide great service most clients would like to perhaps you have back out rather than someone else. Charging someone $400 on the first call won't make you any friends.
