How To Oven Cook Ribs

Author: musarratsh

Ribs are definitely one of the most popular meats that are cooked using the oven or grilled. Oven cooked ribs ensure that the meat is tender and also retains its moisture in order to offer you with a delicious meal. Grilling of ribs does not make the meat tender and at the same time the meat will lose its moisture and hence deprive it of its natural juiciness. Cooking ribs in an oven does not depend on the type of weather as is the case with grilling ribs. In order to prepare a good ribs meal in an oven you will need to follow several simple steps.

You should first have the adequate amount of ribs depending on the number of people who will be eating. And when purchasing the ribs you should always keep in mind that ribs have more fats and bones meaning that you will have to purchase about twice or thrice the amount of meat you are normally used to. Another thing to also keep in mind is that an average adult can eat a pound of ribs when served on its own. You are then supposed to decide whether you will season the ribs so as to have a delicious and at the same time an unique flavor. There several seasoning that you can use.

One of the most commonly used types of seasoning is the sprinkling of salt, garlic, pepper and meat tenderizer onto the ribs. You can also choose to add your own spices which may include turmeric, rosemary, parsley, oregano, paprika, cheese and any other spice you may choose. Instead of seasoning however you can choose to marinade the ribs using the commercially prepared marinades. To marinade the ribs will assist in meat tenderizing as well as maintain the moisture in the meat. There are various types of marinades that can be used and this will include salad dressings, teriyaki marinade and barbecue marinade among others.

When the ribs have been tenderized you can then place them on a baking dish which can either be in glass or on a baking pan. Make sure you have aluminum foil in handy which will be used in covering the pan. The aluminum foil should be large enough so that it will be able to fold back and close the ribs inside the foil. The foil is also supposed to be in excess so that it can be left along the edges. The ribs should then be placed in the pan covered with foil and then water of about a quarter an inch is supposed to be poured in the pan. The water will help in maintaining the moisture in the meat and also protect the pan as well as the foil from getting scorched.

You can add vegetables if you wish to where they are supposed to be cooked along the meat. Potatoes, carrots as well as big chunks of onions are some of the vegetables you can add which should be spread around the ribs. Use the remainder of the foil to cover the ribs which should appear like creating a tent. It is important to ensure that the foil does not press onto the meat while it's cooking. You can then preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and put in the ribs to cook for approximately sixty minutes. Thereafter remove the foil and put the ribs back in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit to cook for approximately 15 minutes. You now have everything that you need to know how to cook ribs.
